Spolveriamo la puntina…
Soul, gospel, soca and revival, London-raised.
Unique has been on air since 1993, back when it was a pirate called Unique FM — Robbo Ranx's weekly reggae show The Street Experience went out on it long before he ever reached national radio. It runs as an independent non-profit streaming live around the clock from London, and the outreach has never been a sideline: it has raised money for Macmillan, the Sickle Cell Society, the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust and Father Figures, and handed out clothing and food along the way.
Around sixty presenters hold slots on it, every one of them named. The site files them by lane, reggae, soul, gospel, all-rounders and alternative, and a single day can run Soundchat into Othman Rootsbeat, The Goodfellaz, Empress Genius and Costa Costa. Jenny Francis, Natty B, Sugar Dread and Daddy Ernie all started here before the bigger stations took them.
Thirty years of Sunday best.
