Alan Alpenfelt and Stefano Palermo built the station to play what Ticino's FM dial would not, and it has long outlasted that premise. What began as two people has grown into an association with more than seventy regular shows, an office on Via Livio and a second room up in Lugano, plus a run of side projects that have wandered a long way from the canton: the Gwenstival festival, the Nettune student-radio network, and community radio work with Helvetas in Benin. None of it is paid.

The music desk runs from Scie Soniche, a nightly granular-synthesis broadcast, through GLASSE's DJ sets and Planet Caravan's post-colonial selections to Simple 80's. Talk falls to Senza Filtro and Panico Morale, written by young artists and students in the canton, while Tornasole takes whatever refuses to sit still in either column, in whatever language it arrives in.
