Hirschmilch went on air from Hamburg on the last day of 2008 with two channels and no money in it, a free and non-commercial thing Michael Reese ran because nobody else was running it. Chillout arrived a year later, on the first anniversary, once it was clear the audience wanted somewhere to land as well as somewhere to dance. Dense came aboard in 2016 and has presented Chill On! every Sunday afternoon since, four hours of new releases and fresh mixes, and he takes the whole of Saturday night too.

What airs here is the deep end of psychill, ambient and downtempo, weighted toward the European producers who treat a track as a place rather than an arrangement. Dub weight turns up often, beats less often, and a piece is allowed to take eleven minutes if it needs them. Nightcap runs eight unbroken hours on a Saturday with no talking over any of it, which tells you the intended posture.
