WPRB 103.3 FM: radio en directo desde Princeton

Espeeera...

Quitando el polvo a la aguja…

WPRB 103.3 FM

Polite town, impolite radio.

Ivy League license, complete disregard for the syllabus.

WPRB started in 1940 as WPRU, a carrier-current station wired through Princeton's own electrical system by an undergraduate named H. Grant Theis, and it moved to FM in 1955 as the first commercially licensed college radio station in the country. Students fill the larger part of the schedule, but this is not a university department: the licence belongs to Princeton Broadcasting Service, a 501(c)(3) that raises its own money and answers to no dean for a single minute of what goes out.

The signal covers central New Jersey, Philadelphia, eastern Pennsylvania and the northern tip of Delaware, and the grid refuses to settle anywhere. An evening of tech-metal and mathcore hands off to Transistor Sister, then to Sangeet's Indian classical and folk, then to whatever the overnight DJ has been saving. Every spin is logged publicly, and the DJ chooses all of it.
