Berlin's art-radio lab: field recordings to radio plays.
Cashmere spent its first six years in a Lichtenberg shopfront before moving to the studio it keeps in Wedding, a room the public can walk into as well as a stream. It is not-for-profit, and its stated project is to treat radio as a material with give in it — honouring what the medium does well while pulling at its edges, so regular weekly shows share the schedule with day-long generative performances and installations. Berlin has handed it a Tag der Clubkultur award twice and an Art Week project-space prize.
Hosts hold their own hours and the grid goes wherever they go: Duty Free on Jamaican roots and bass, Calgili Kahvehane on Ottoman café music, Eastern Daze reporting back from central Europe, Ecco Chamber on vaporwave, Zola Gorgon on minimal synth and post-punk. On Fridays and Saturdays it goes out on Berlin DAB+ too, shared with five other independents.
Radio as sculpture, goat included.
