Dub Step Beyond opened in 2012, the year dubstep stopped being a south London specialism and became a stadium sound in America, complete with award shows, festival slots and the drop as a punchline. SomaFM put up a room for it anyway, in a five-channel batch that also brought SF 10-33 and Folk Forward, and the Beyond on the end was the hedge: the brief covered dubstep and whatever else the low end happened to be doing, which is the part that kept the channel worth running once the bubble went.

The rotation still runs on weight. Rusko remixed by Skream, Modestep and the UKF-era anthems sit next to Truth's deeper half-step, Opiuo's glitch-hop and compilation cuts like Generation Bass's Transnational Dubstep, while Jphelpz and Helicopter Showdown handle the heavier end. Singles from names carrying no press at all — Syndaesia, Doco, Step-a-side — fill the hours in between.
