Progressive house and trance at their most patient.
The Trip went up in 2004 under a different name: it was Tag's Trip then, and SomaFM shortened it later. What has not changed is the brief — progressive house and trance at the length the records were actually made, eight to twelve minutes apiece, sequenced so each one bleeds into the next. The channel came out of the moment when that sound was a club staple rather than a festival format, and it stayed exactly there when the genre left for the main stage and the three-minute radio edit.
The rotation runs on remixes and white-label singles: Charlie May's instrumental mix of Ashland's Clear, Eelke Kleijn reworking Madoka, Nathan Fake's early Border Community material, and uplifting trance from Ciaran McAuley and Marc Walsh. Benz & MD, Slusnik Luna, Interstate and Timothy Allan carry most of the hours in between, and a Goa compilation surfaces now and then.
Built for the long drive home.
