Reggae, dub and afrobeats from a diaspora roster.
Riddim 1 broadcasts from Kingston with a remit it states plainly: music with West African roots, and a phrase — connecting the Black Electronic — that covers the whole lineage from ska and dub through to afrobeats, grime and trap. The presenters are scattered rather than local, filing shows from the UK, the Bahamas, Italy, Cyprus and the United States as well as Jamaica, and the station keeps company with Jahmento Records and Riddimstyle, so the records tend to arrive from the people making them.
Chris Goldfinger brings his weekly reggae and dancehall show over from the UK, with a soul hour later in the week; Dennis Howard runs Echoes twice a week from Kingston itself; Rico sends Train to Skaville down from the Bahamas every week; Haji Mike broadcasts as the Outernationalist from Cyprus, and Pier Tosi's Soul Shake Party comes in from Italy.
One thread from Kingston outward.
