Chanson to électro, one strand at a time, on 93. 3.
A handful of Clermont students got it going in 1995 as a campus project, and the first programme went out at eight in the evening on Thursday 2 May 1996 from a small house on the Voie Romaine. It runs out of Pôle 22 bis on Impasse Bonnabaud with a small paid staff, young people on civic service and well over a hundred volunteers making programmes, dozens of them trained up each year. The signal covers the city and thirty kilometres around it, on 93.3, and has never carried an advert.
Eight standing strands split the music by lane — Gold, Pop Rock, Chanson, Hip Hop, Reggae Dub World, Électro, Jazz Soul Funk and Local, that last one reserved for Auvergne artists — and about seventy shows sit around them, taking in culture, politics, society and the environment. A monthly playlist collects whatever survived the month on air, Auvergne records included.
A campus radio with no campus.
